科目について

クラスは TOEFL 等の結果に基づき編成される。初回授業の集合場所は、ポータルを通じて行なうので各自注意すること。

上級（Fialka）：Students will learn exciting new things about current environmental issues and/or global affairs. Past topics have included The floating libraries of Bangladesh, The Vertical Gardens of Singapore, The Freitag Brothers and Their Innovative Bags, Doctors Without Borders, Robot Doctors, Body Burden Testing, The Reasons Behind the Increase in Cosmetic Surgery in Asia, Japan's Aging Population, Maggot Therapy, Why Humans Sometimes Smell Bad, The Top Ten Killers in America, The Health Benefits of Laughter, Longevity in Okinawa, Diseases of the Elderly, The Cosmetic Surgery Boom, Phobias, Viagra for women, Chinese Medicine and its Effects on Endangered Species etc...

中級（Leyte）：Students should be able to use Google Docs and Google Slides to develop presentations.

初級（堀川）：英語特有の語順や「音の強弱」を意識して話すだけで、ネイティブ・スピーカーに近い表現ができるようになります。自分の得意な話題や、初対面の相手からよく聞かれる質問への答も用意しましょう。コツを習得して、英語でのコミュニケーションを「楽しい、日常のできごと」と思えるようにします。

受講前に必要とされる知識及び技能・態度

上級（Fialka）：Students should be at an intermediate level of English.

中級（Leyte）：Students should be at a pre-intermediate level of English. Students will need a tablet or computer to receive material and prepare presentations (using Google Classroom / Google Suite for Education).

初級（堀川）：体を動かしながら声を出すことが大切です。指定した課題を予習してくるのはもちろん、授業のない日でも10分以上は英語に触れるようにしてください。アナウンサーになったつもりで英語ニュースを音読するだけでも、力は伸びます。

科目の評価について

上級（Fialka）：Students will have a midterm exam worth 25% of their final grade and a final exam worth 25% of their final grade. The remaining 50% is based on class participation: attendance, bringing the required materials, doing the assigned homework, participating in class, not sleeping, not playing games on their phone, good fashion/style, etc.

中級（Leyte）：The students will be continually evaluated based on participation during classroom activities and discussions, as well as on the quality of their presentations. There will not be an end-of-term test.

初級（堀川）：授業への参加姿勢（70％）、振り返り提出（30％）。テストは行いません。

上級（Fialka）：All materials come from news sources, and are fresh and up to date, hence the lectures differ from term to term and year to year.

中級（Leyte）：Materials will be provided weekly by the teacher.
